Janet Krueger has a BA in German and Business from Central College in Pella, Iowa and an MS in computer science from the University of Iowa. She joined IBM in 1976, working in programming language development for the System/34. Later, Janet transferred to the programming support area, designing and coding both MVS and VM application development tools for internal IBM use. Ms. Krueger was the lead designer for the PC Support/400 product from 1987 through 1993. She acted as the technical liaison between the Novell corporation and the Rochester programming lab for 3 years. She has been one of the primary strategists on how to transform the AS/400 (and its follow-ons) into a competitive server.

Janet is now a consulting software engineer at Andrews Consulting Group and a member of COMMON's Board of Directors. She is regarded as an expert in the application development tools arena, and has conducted hands-on evaluation of most of the leading AS/400 tools. Prior to joining Andrews Consulting Group, she was a member of IBM AS/400 Partners in Development, where she assisted key customers with their software development and deployment strategies. Janet was instrumental in transforming the AS/400 application base into a set of competitive e-business solutions. Janet spent most of her 23 years with IBM in the Rochester, Minnesota development laboratory as a developer and designer. An expert in client/server computing, she was the lead designer of Client Access/400. A well published author and often quoted consultant, Janet is familiar to almost everyone who attends COMMON or reads NEWS400, Midrange Computing, The 400Group, TUG/400 e-server, and other leading trade publications. She is a frequent guest speaker at several key AS/400 events worldwide and a recent recipient of COMMON's Distinguished Service Award.
