Session 1 (5:00 PM)
Open Source: How to not mess it up
("How to not f*** it up" has also been suggested.)
😂

Now that open source has become the mainstream conversation in the IT industry, it's time to pause, step back, and make sure that you're following some important best practices. Failure to do so could compromise your application's integrity, reliability, and security. In this conversation, we'll disuss the proper techniques for deploying open source as part of a holistic open source strategy. We have an opportunity to learn from some of the common mistakes, so we'll discuss those, too. In short, you'll learn how to adopt open source without messing it up!

Session 2 (7:00 PM)
What's new in VSCode

VSCode has quickly become the developer tool of choice in the industry. Several open source extensions are available for IBM i, too! Embracing this technology will make for happy and productive programmers!

In this talk, we'll cover the newest enhancements to the VSCode ecosystem for IBM i. With recent enhancements to the database extension, for instance, we now have a full-stack development tool for IBM i. The project moves quickly, so there's plenty to explore!

ALL PATRONS AND STAFF ARE ENCOURAGED TO BE FULLY VACCINATED TO ATTEND THE MoM IN-PERSON.
