SPEAKER:

Jonathan Zak

Jonathan Zak

(IBM Canada)

Jonathan Zak is a Staff Software Developer at IBM, specializing in open-source solutions for the IBM i platform. He contributes to key projects such as Manzan (system management and observability), Tyrico (high-throughput AI inferencing), and Mapepire (a connector for Db2 for i). Passionate about building efficient and scalable tools, Jonathan bridges modern development practices with the unique strengths of IBM i. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and playing dodgeball.

TOPIC:
“Mapepire – A new simple, performant, and portable Db2 client for IBM i”

SESSION ABSTRACT:

Forget ODBC! Here's a New Db2 Connector.

Connecting to Db2 has never been easier or more efficient. Join us for an in-depth session on a powerful open-source library designed to simplify and enhance your Db2 database interactions. This library offers a more straightforward alternative to traditional JDBC or ODBC connections, ensuring developers can achieve optimal performance and scalability without the usual complexity.

With support for multiple programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, and Python (more coming), this versatile library meets the needs of diverse development environments. Attendees will gain insights into its architecture, see practical demonstrations, and learn best practices for integrating it into their projects.

Learning Objectives:
    • Learn the architecture and core tenets of Mapepire
    • Understand the differences compared to JDBC and ODBC
    • Learn how to get started with code examples
