β€œRPG Enumerations:
More than just a fancy named constant”

β€’ How to define an enum (basically a group of named constants, possibly qualified)
β€’ How you can use an enum as though it was an array of the named constants
β€’ How you can define a data type for an enum and then define variables LIKE the enum, where the variables are limited to only having the values in the enum

Barbara Morris is the lead developer for the RPG compilers in the IBM Toronto Lab. She has been working on the RPG compilers since she started at IBM in 1989 after receiving a Computing Science degree from the University of Alberta. The first enhancement she developed was the ENDIF/ENDDO opcodes for RPG/400 in V2R1. Some of her most recent enhancements were the ON-EXIT, DATA-INTO and DATA-GEN opcodes and overloaded prototypes. A few of the other notable enhancements that she developed for RPG include subprocedures, qualified data structures, call-interaction with Java, Open Access: RPG Edition, and fully-free-form RPG.

TUG Board Election

Election nominations are still open for the TUG Board of Directors until February 28th.

The following candidates will stand for election / re-election in 2026:
    β€’ Marly Campbell (incumbent Director)
    β€’ John Deluca (incumbent Director)
    β€’ Tom Mavroidis (new nominee)

NB. Since there are only three candidates (so far),
there must be at least one other new candidate nominated
in order to trigger an actual election.
Otherwise, those three will be elected by acclamation.

TUG Board Election schedule for 2026:
    JAN – Election details announced to members and call for nominations.
    FEB – Deadline for nominations: Feb 28.
    MAR – Voting by return email (if election necessary).
    APR – Voting continues until April 30th cutoff.
    MAY – Announcement of winners at the May 20th MoM.
    JUL – Election of officers at the July 13th BoD meeting.
